THROUGH a resolution, the 20th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez has requested the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) to allow the city government to utilize for the City Negosyo Center the abandoned building, formally occupied by the Philippine Postal Bank, at Chavez Street corner Rizal Street.
The Cagayan de Oro Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ORO-TIPC) has identified the abandoned Postal Bank building as suitable site for the Negosyo Center. It is envisioned to offer a variety of services that would benefit local entrepreneurs by providing them with necessary resources including business planning workshops, mentorship programs, and access to financial resources.
While the Deed of Usufruct between PHLPost and the City for the use of the said lot expired sometime in 2021 and pending negotiations for its renewal, Majority Floor Leader Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas said the City cannot just evict the PHLPost out of respect to a government entity. He further tasked the City Legal Office to delineate portion of the lot that will be covered in the renewal of the Deed of Usufruct.
