“WE, the youth, are not just the leaders of tomorrow; we are the changemakers of today.” These inspiring words were delivered by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, City SK Federation President, during the Parangal at Pagpupugay: Culmination of the 21st Rotary Youth Week, held on November 29 at the City Council Session Hall.
The event, spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro, provides student leaders from various schools in the city a unique opportunity to serve as counterparts of local government officials and department heads, offering them a firsthand experience of how the local government operates.
In his keynote message, Sacala emphasized the importance of embodying core values such as service, leadership, and integrity. He encouraged the young leaders to hold fast to the lessons and inspiration they gained, saying, “Take the energy and momentum from this week and channel it into creating ripples of change in your schools, barangays, and broader society.”
The culmination event was attended by the Rotary Youth City Officials, both from the executive and legislative branches, as well as Rotarians led by Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro President RTN Neil Ronald Que. Members of the 20th City Council, led by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, also graced the occasion, underscoring the city government’s continued support for youth development initiatives.
