Dr. Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, chair of the City Council Committee on Health, Nutrition, and Health Insurance, graced the Barangay Health Workers (BHW) Annual Convention and Christmas Party held on December 9, 2024, at the Grand Caprice Restaurant, Limketkai Center.

In her address, Councilor Gaane commended the BHWs for their dedication to serving the community and highlighted their vital role in bridging the gap between underserved populations and improved healthcare services.
“Capacity building is a crucial skill in this profession,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of training in communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and cultural competency.
“These skills enable BHWs to better connect with the communities they serve, identify their healthcare needs, and enhance their well-being,” Gaane added.
Investing in the training and education of BHWs will empower them to deliver high-quality care and significantly impact their communities, Councilor Gaane concluded.

THE City Council Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas favorably endorsed the application of the Communities Cagayan, Inc. (CCI) to consolidate more than 2,400 titled properties previously allotted for subdivision projects located in Barangay Lumbia.

It was learned that the development permit of the subdivision projects, La Brisa and Frontiera II, were issued on May 26, 2000 by the City Council, as well as its certificate of registration and license to sell. However, these documentary requirements have been cancelled already.
During the recent meeting, Atty. John Mark Marquiño, representative of the developer, said that due to financial crisis that time the CCI was unable to develop the subdivisions.
Because of the proposal of the developer to develop new subdivisions, they are applying for a consolidation of plan.
With this, Councilor Aga Suan moved for the approval of the application and its referral to the Committee on Laws and Rules for appropriate action.
